Plan The Day uses a small number of cookies. This policy explains which ones,
why they exist, and how to change any preference that is available to you.
Cookies we use
Plan The Day sets strictly necessary cookies. It also uses PostHog for Analytics
and Performance measurement, both of which run by default and can be turned off
at any time. Linking analytics to your account, and Session Replay, happen only
if you turn them on. None of this is used for advertising or cross-site
tracking.
- Supabase authentication keeps you signed in and refreshes your session.
It expires when you sign out, or when the session expires.
ptd_share_session remembers that a read-only Event share link has been
opened, so the link does not have to be re-entered. It expires after 24
hours.
ptd_management_invitation carries a management invitation while it is
being reviewed and accepted. It expires after 7 days.
If you record a cookie preference, one further cookie, ptd_cookie_prefs,
stores that choice. It contains nothing but the choice itself, its version and
the time it was saved. It holds no account identifier, Event information or
analytics identifier.
We use an error-monitoring service to find and fix faults. It stores nothing on
your device: no cookie, and nothing in your browser's storage.
Your choice
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, cookies that are
strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for do not require
consent. Every strictly necessary cookie listed above falls into that category.
Analytics and Performance measurement run under a second exemption, added to
those Regulations by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. It allows us to collect
statistics about how Plan The Day is used, for the sole purpose of improving it,
without asking first. We may only rely on it while all of the following hold, so
we hold ourselves to them:
- These categories are used to work out how the service is used, and nothing
else. They are never used to advertise to you or to build a marketing profile.
- We tell you they are running before you have to look for them, which is what
the notice on your first visit is for.
- Turning either off is free, takes effect immediately, and is always available
on this page. You never have to give a reason.
- What we collect is not shared with anyone except to help us improve Plan The
Day. PostHog processes it on our behalf and for no purpose of its own.
Account-linked analytics and Session Replay are outside that exemption, because
they are about who you are rather than how the service is used. Both are off
unless you turn them on. Continuing to use Plan The Day, closing the preferences
sheet without saving, or accepting a legal document is never consent to either.
Analytics
Analytics runs by default and uses PostHog to understand how the app is used so
we can improve it. You can turn it off at any time on this page, and doing so
stops collection immediately.
It counts what happens, not who did it. PostHog stores a pseudonymous identifier
in your browser so that repeat visits from the same device can be counted as one
visitor rather than several, which is what makes it possible to tell whether a
change actually helped. That identifier is not your name, your email address or
your account, and on its own it builds no profile of you: unless you separately
turn on Account-linked analytics, nothing here is ever attached to your account.
PostHog receives the screen you are on, how you arrived - the website that
referred you and any utm_ campaign labels on the link you followed - and
basic technical details about your browser and device. Where a web address
contains a record reference, we replace it before sending, so we can tell that
a Contract was opened without sending which one.
It also records that you interacted with a control, and where on the screen you
tapped or scrolled, so we can see which parts of a screen people actually use.
We deliberately hide the wording of what you tapped, because in Plan The Day a
button often carries a Supplier or a person's name. What we receive is the kind
of control and its position, not its label.
Actions you complete inside the app, such as adding a Supplier or exporting a
Timeline, are recorded only if you turn on Account-linked analytics. Without it
we can see that a screen was used, and not what was accomplished on it.
We do not send names, email addresses, your Event's name, date or location,
Supplier or contact details, Contract content or names, payment details, form
values, free text, query-string values or credentials. We do not collect
advertising click identifiers such as gclid or fbclid.
Analytics is retained for 90 days. Advertising, surveys, feature flags,
experiments and error tracking through PostHog are not enabled.
Account-linked analytics
Account-linked analytics is a separate choice from Analytics, and it is off
unless you turn it on. It connects the activity described above to your account,
so we can follow how a single plan progresses instead of seeing each visit as an
unrelated one.
When you turn it on, we also link the activity we have already measured on
this device, including from before you turned it on and from before you signed
in. That is deliberate: it is the only way we can tell which route into Plan
The Day led to someone actually planning an Event. If you would rather that did
not happen, leave this off and Analytics will carry on counting you without it.
With it on, we additionally receive a small amount of context that tells us who
an action belongs to: the type of Event you are planning, such as a wedding or a
birthday; roughly how far away it is, as a broad band rather than a date;
whether you are planning your own Event or working as a planner; and which plan
you are on.
We also receive the actions you complete. Where Plan The Day stops you doing
something, we receive that it happened and the reason category, for example that
you reached a limit of your plan or that a form was incomplete. We never receive
what you typed or the message you were shown.
If you buy Event Pass or Planner Pro, we receive that you reached an upgrade
prompt, that you started checkout and which product it was for, and that the
purchase was applied. We do not receive any payment detail: no card details, no
amount, no price, no currency and no Stripe reference. Those stay on Stripe's
own pages.
Turning this off stops the link straight away and starts a fresh unlinked
identifier. Activity recorded while it was on stays linked to your account until
it is deleted or reaches the end of its 90 day retention.
Performance
Performance measurement is a separate choice from Analytics, and it runs by
default. It tells us how quickly screens load and how stable they are while
loading, so we can find the screens that are slow on real phones rather than on
our own. You can turn it off at any time on this page.
It measures four standard web timings and the screen they belong to. It is
deliberately kept apart from Analytics: it never receives an account identifier,
it is not linked to your Analytics activity, and it stores no identifier in your
browser. The only thing it stores on your device is a small flag recording
whether it is switched on. That means we can see that a screen is slow, and not
who found it slow.
Turning Performance on or off has no effect on Analytics or Session Replay, and
turning either of those on does not turn this on.
Session Replay
Session Replay is a separate choice from Analytics, and it is off unless you
turn it on. It lets us watch back a masked recording of a screen while we
investigate a specific problem.
Recording does not run continuously. It happens only while a named
investigation is open, only on the screens that investigation is about, and
only until that investigation's end date, which is set before it starts.
Every recording is masked. All text is hidden and anything you type is hidden,
including into fields we have not individually marked. A recording shows the
layout of a screen, what was tapped and how the page moved. It does not show
your Event details, your Suppliers, your contacts, your Contracts or anything
you typed.
Because a recording is linked to the same session as your Analytics activity,
Session Replay also needs Analytics left on. If you turn on Session Replay but
switch Analytics off, nothing is recorded.
Managing your preferences
Every optional category - Analytics, Account-linked analytics, Performance and
Session Replay - can be turned on or off independently on this page. The change
applies immediately, and turning any of them off never reduces what you can do
in Plan The Day.
Analytics and Performance are on unless you turn them off. Account-linked
analytics and Session Replay are off unless you turn them on.
Turning Analytics off stops future capture and resets the browser analytics
identity. Turning off Account-linked analytics, Performance or Session Replay
stops only that category and leaves the others as they are. Once Analytics is
enabled in production, an
eligible profile-deletion request will also delete associated analytics data.
Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off, because the service cannot
work without them.
Third parties
Payments are handled on Stripe's own checkout and billing pages. Any cookie set
there is set by Stripe under its own cookie policy, not by Plan The Day.
